Conventional clamping devices, such as the lunette, centering plate or pipe center, which are used for pipe machining, allow only limited freedom and disturb lathe work. Turning tools during facing and external turning cannot get “unhindered” to the work piece. When tapping an internal thread, it is unthinkable to work without a lunette.
